22nd Annual 3rd Thursday Kickoff
Street Festival, Superhero Day in Putnam, Plus 45 Events!
Good morning, Quiet Corner Swarm! Today is Tuesday 5/13, and that means it’s National Apple Pie Day (which you would think would be in the fall during apple season. But I don’t make the national days, I just tell you about them).
Anyway, with the weather getting nicer, we want figure out a way to see all of your smiling faces! We’re thinking about doing some meet ups, but we want to know what you all would prefer doing. If you could answer a quick poll, that will help us get the ball rolling.
In Today’s Quiet Corner Buzz:
Return of 3rd Thursday
Superhero Day
45 Events
Let’s dive in!

BRIEF BITES
Local Honors: Willington’s Ryan Toomey just earned one of the top academic honors in Connecticut - the Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award from Eastern CT State University. Only 12 students statewide are chosen, and he made the cut. Great work!

THE HIVE’S PICK

Image: Willimantic’s Third Thursday Fest
This Thursday, 5/15, marks the first 3rd Thursday of 2025 on Main St in Willimantic starting at 6pm. This marks the 22nd year of the street fest, and it’s promising to be an excellent time! Food booths, Main St merchants (Willi Scoops just opened if you’re looking for some ice cream, the delicious Trigo restaurant if you’re in the mood for pizza - and a lot more, or the legendary WilliBrew - which you would be able to get 10% off your order if you have a Buzz Card shameless self-plug), live music (including the Professors of Sweet Sweet Music, which I was a part of way back when), and a ton of fun - including a bounce house for the little ones.
There’s way too much to cover here, so you can do a deep dive on their website.
Parking can be a little tricky, but there is a convenient parking garage on Walnut St. If you’ve never been to one of these before, come see why this has been a Willimantic tradition for the past 21 years!
And if you see me walking around, please come say hi!
