Good morning, Quiet Corner Swarm! Today is Tuesday 9/16, and that means it’s National Guacamole Day! (As if you needed a reason to enjoy some guac). In order to celebrate this wonderful day, I want to hear about where you think has the best guac in Northeast CT. Even better, if you have a must-eat recipe, send it on over, and you might just see it in next week’s QCB!

🚨UPDATE🚨
Last week I asked if you wanted us to collab with a local artist on a CT-inspired limited-run print, and the answer was a loud yes.
We’re green-lighting it, I’ll keep you in the loop on sketches and drop pre-order details as soon as it’s ready.

BRIEF BITES
🍁 Putnam just got the national nod, Parade named it a fall hidden gem, so hit Main Street and stroll the Quinebaug before the leaf-peepers catch on. Check out the other under-rated New England towns.
🍂 Route 169, our Quiet Corner scenic spine, just made TravelHost’s “underrated foliage” list; cruise from Woodstock to Lisbon for stone walls, steeples, and maples on fire. See the full list.

BUZZ & TELL
🐶Adopt-a-pal: Meet Princess, a 5-year-old pretty pittie rock star who lives for walks, couch cuddles, and being your one-and-only. Crate trained (~65 lbs), great with teens+, bring her home and cue the love + laughs.
🏡House of the week: Built in the 1790s, this 2,740-SF farmhouse has 200+ years of stories (yes, including an alpaca era) set on 12.34 acres with gardens and an in-ground pool. Inside: 3 beds/1.5 baths, a bright kitchen to a fireplaced keeping room, formal LR/DR, wide-board floors, a beehive oven, and a walk-in chestnut pantry.
Modern sanity included: newer roof/sills, updated septic/well, and a Buderus furnace (3 zones, ~10 yrs), ready for its next stewards. Check it out!
🥾Trail of the week: West Thompson Lake — Shoreline & Blain Bridge Loop
Easy lakeside miles, dam-top views, herons in the coves, and a brand-new pedestrian bridge that lets you loop it clean. Start at the boat ramp lot (449 Reardon Rd), follow the Shoreline Trail, cross the Blain Bridge, and cruise back, about 4+ miles, easy. Want more? Extend on the Quinebaug River Trail for a 7–8 mile figure-eight. Pro tip: In fall, parts of the area allow hunting, wear blaze orange. Dogs leashed. Sunset lap over the dam is chef’s kiss.
🔭Sky report: This Sunday (9/21) Saturn’s throwing its yearly glow-up. Up at sunset, peaking around midnight over Windham, bright and steady in Pisces.
Even a basic scope will pop the rings (nearly edge-on this year). Backyard show > streaming.
