Good morning, Quiet Corner Swarm! Today is Tuesday 11/18, and that means it’s National Princess Day! Break out your tiara and have a magical day, maybe take a ride past the castle in Woodstock for some added authenticity. Having never been a princess, I’m not sure what they actually do, but I imagine you can’t go wrong with tea and unicorns.
In other news, Conn-Opoly is on its way, and we should be rolling it out just in time for the holidays.

EMAIL BROUGHT TO YOU BY WINDHAM PRESERVATION INC.

Windham Preservation Inc. is the kind of neighbor every historic town wishes it had; hands-on, practical, and completely in love with Windham Center. Their mission is simple and strong: preserve the town’s historic built places and planned spaces, with the Windham Inn as the crown-jewel restoration that brings community life back to the green. Recent momentum helps, too: they secured a Connecticut Community Investment Fund planning grant to get the Inn “shovel-ready” for housing and community use - real fuel for the next phase.
If you like your history with a side of exploring, grab their free self-guided tour maps (Lower Green, Upper Green, North Street, Plains & Scotland Roads, and more) and wander while the village dresses up for the holidays.
Last but not least, circle December 6: Áine Minogue (an award-winning Celtic harpist) is back with a luminous holiday program at historic St. Paul’s in Windham Center, with an optional meet-and-greet next door at the gracious home of Andrew & Hilary Celentano. Proceeds support the Windham Inn restoration, and maps are available at the Inn or online; perfect pre-show stroll material.

BUZZ CONTRIBUTORS
Ever since Connecticut Buzz took off, a bunch of you have asked how you can jump in - sharing family recipes, CT life hacks, small-town stories, local lore, history deep dives, and all the quirky stuff that makes this state feel like home.
This thing has always been “by the people, for the people,” so it only makes sense to open up more space for your voices. The goal is simple: a place where we swap stories, compare notes, and show off the weird, wonderful side of Connecticut you don’t see in tourist brochures.
The “Buzz Contributors” idea is still in beta - I don’t know yet if it’ll be a weekly spotlight, a monthly round-up, or something in between. But we’ll test it and see what feels right. If you’re interested in being a Buzz Contributor, hit the link below and let’s see what we can build together.

FLIGHT DEAL
I wanted to test something out this week and started digging for cheap flight deals - because let’s be honest, it’s getting cold and half of us are one frost advisory away from fleeing South.
Found a killer flight deal to Charleston, SC - basically the price of a tank of gas and way warmer than whatever Connecticut is doing right now. If you've been craving cobblestone streets, shrimp & grits, and not scraping ice off your windshield, this one’s calling your name.
From Bradley to Charleston, SC for 88 bucks* roundtrip, in mid January for an extended weekend. See the deal!
From Providence to Charleston, SC for 78 bucks* roundtrip, in mid January for an extended weekend. See the deal!
***Price shown above is accurate as of the time this newsletter was sent.
Are cheap flights deals from local airports something thaty you would enjoy?
